A little light for whatever today brought you

Encouragement For You

Sometimes you need a lighthouse. Sometimes a story. Sometimes a kick in the pants. This is a collection of things that have encouraged me—books, music, people, ideas, and practical tools—shared in the hope that one of them is exactly what you needed today.

Words worth carrying

A few reminders for the road.

Some are serious. Some are blunt. One is definitely Abraham Lincoln talking about the Internet.

Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried. Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. Humorous Abraham Lincoln Internet quote graphic

When it’s rough

You don’t have to calm the whole ocean.

Sometimes the job is smaller than that: keep the light on, stay where you are supposed to be, and make the next good decision you can make.

That idea runs through a lot of what lives here—resilience without pretending things are easy, and optimism without pretending things don’t hurt.

Turn encouragement into motion

Pick one thing and move it forward.

A good goal doesn’t need a complicated system. It needs a reason, a clear picture of “better,” and a next step small enough to take.

And sometimes…

Encouragement is just a laugh.

Not everything here has to be profound. There is room for surprise, talent, joy, and a little chaos too.
